Healthcare professionals seeking training in myofunctional therapy can now register for “Tongue Thrust & Beyond: A Myofunctional Course,” scheduled for two sessions in 2025. The training takes place in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, with sessions available August 14–17 or December 4–7, 2025.
Course instructor Dr. Mohamed A. Mohamed currently serves on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM). He brings both academic and clinical expertise to the program. His credentials include a PhD in Clinical Psychology, Master’s degrees in both Speech-Language Pathology and Psychology, and certification as a Certified Orofacial Myologist (COM®) since 2014. Dr. Mohamed also holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and maintains registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). He is the author of the book Treatment of Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders, which is available for purchase.
As the founder and owner of the Swallowing, Voice and Speech Rehab Clinic in Mississauga, established in 2010, Dr. Mohamed specializes in swallowing disorders, voice disorders, and myofunctional therapy. His professional experience includes developing online documentation
systems at Humber River Hospital and serving on the Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders Committee for the 2010 ASHA Convention in Philadelphia.
Currently, Dr. Mohamed serves as an academic advisor in the Department of Health and Community Services and continues to support IAOM certification efforts both as an instructor and board member.
