Certified Orofacial Myologist™ (COM®)
Voting member
Active Members are SLP, RDH, DDS/DMD, MD/DO who have completed an initial 28-hour Introductory Course in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy. This must be one course totaling 28-hours and not a cumulative of multiple courses totaling 28-hours.

Certification
The IAOM is the only Certifying Organization for clinicians who diagnose and treat Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders.
Convention
A three day Annual Convention where clinical papers, research reports, tutorials, and information from members and allied fields are presented and discussed.

Membership is open to all licensed SLP, RDH, DDS/DMD, MD/DO regardless of what initial 28-hour Introductory Course has been completed. If you are outside those professions, Apply here!

The IAOM is the founding governing body in the Certification of Orofacial Myology. We are the oldest and largest organization that trains, educates and certifies in orofacial myofunctional therapy.
The IAOM is the only professional organization that certifies RDHs (Registered Dental Hygienists), SLPs (Speech-Language Pathologists), & DDSs/ DMDs (dentists) in Orofacial Myology.
After an eligible professional (RDH, SLP, DDS/DMD) takes an IAOM approved 28 hour Introductory Course, he/she is eligible to apply for certification.
Why get Certified?
Certification establishes a recognize standard of knowledge and skill set by professionals trained in any particular specialty. It allows the consumer to more easily narrow their search when looking for a competent professional to be certain they will be receiving knowledgeable and quality care. When a professional pursues Certification it denotes a dedication to learning as much as possible about their field of choice.
The IAOM Certification process challenges the participant with in-depth investigation into the etiologies, symptoms, treatment variances, and supportive research related to Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders. The process enhances their breadth of clinical knowledge that cannot obtained through a single course method.”
