Holds a minimum of RDH, RN, BA/BS, who is licensed in their profession. Members in this category practice orofacial myology. Members may also take an active role in the IAOM. Members are encouraged to complete the IAOM certification process. Members shall be required to fulfill all continuing education units applied to the certified category.

A member who subscribes to the purposes of the IAOM. Demonstrates an interest in the work of this area of specialty but does not practice orofacial myology. Who is a student in a related area of study.

A member holding ACTIVE membership who has satisfactorily completed the IAOM Proficiency Examination and On-Site Visit Evaluation. Certified members are required to attend a course related to the profession of orofacial myofunctional disorders or an IAOM Convention/Conference for a minimum of 15 hours within a 3 year period. Failure to pay annual dues will result in revocation of certification status.

A member from outside the specialty area of orofacial myofunctional disorders who has been selected by the Board of Directors of the IAOM for significant contribution toward the advancement of the IAOM principles. Member does not pay annual dues. Shall not hold an office in the IAOM and shall not be eligible to vote in the affairs of the IAOM.

A Life member is identified as a member who has held membership for at least 10 years immediately prior to attaining the age of 65. This category must be applied for by the member in writing to the Executive Coordinator of the IAOM. If the person fulfills the above requirements, the Executive Coordinator shall inform the IAOM President, the HANDBOOK editor, and the Corresponding Secretary. The member shall automatically receive LIFE membership status with all of the privileges of a member without payment of dues each year thereafter.

A Retired Certified Member is granted permanent certified status as long as they are not practicing orofacial myofunctional therapy. This category must be applied for by the member in writing to the Executive Coordinator stating that he/she is no longer in active practice. If this person fulfills the above requirements, the Executive Coordinator shall inform the IAOM President and the Corresponding Secretary. He/she can retain their certified status without payment of dues.
